On March 15, 1988 Pan Am started a three times a week nonstop service between NY and Moscow in cooperation with Aeroflot. The service utilized a Pan Am 747 with Aeroflot selling half the seats and providing up to three flight attendants. Both Pan Am and Aeroflot started one stop Service in 1968 but it was suspended in 1981 for economic and political reasons.
