THE PAN AM MUSEUM PRESENTS: PAN AM'S WORLD
Everyday we receive comments on our social media pages from those wishing to share their Pan Am story. Stories of Pan Am employees; stories from the children of employees who want the role their parents played remembered; stories of passengers who tell us of a time when flying was magical, romantic, and special; stories that we want to share with you. The stories of Pan Am's World.
In order to share these cherished memories of Pan Am, the Pan Am Museum Foundation is proud to launch a new series called Pan Am's World. These memories provide a window into the history, the legacy and the adventure that was Pan Am's World. The first in a series of videos commemorating the people, the places and events that defined what it was like to fly and work for Pan Am. A comment sent us by Mr. John Matsumoto, a former United employee and Pan Am passenger, had such an impact on us, we knew we had to share his story...

2016 Flights of Fashion Fundraiser with Edith Head & Philip Keene
Hooray for Hollywood and Pan Am's own Phillip Keene who stars as Buzz on the hit TV show, Major Crimes. Phillip has organized this fabulous fundraiser and tribute to award-winning designer, Edith Head to benefit the Pan Am Museum Foundation. In addition to dressing Hollywood's top stars, Head designed the Pan Am flight attendant uniforms that debuted in 1975.
Step back into the heady world of mid-century Hollywood, where men were men and women were girls, and only a very rare backstage talent could rise above the gossip, hype and hoopla of the studio system. Working hand-in-glove with actors, auteurs and producers, Ms. Head became the perfect fit for her era, influencing fifty years of fashion as well as creating a famously (and liberating) range of uniforms for the world's most famous airline, Pan Am. Susan Claassen brilliantly performs "A Conversation with Edith Head" with host Stuart Moulton, effortlessly bringing the character back to life, magically inhabiting another time and place. |
Thank You to Phillip Keene and all Supporters
2016 Pan Am Family Jonathan's World Triathlon fundraiser
Jonathan Smith, son of Captain Jim Smith and Flight Attendant Alicia Cubota Smith, is competing in Ironman Triathlons this summer to benefit the Pan Am Museum Foundation. The entire family thanks everyone who has already contributed on his behalf. Alicia recently said, "Jonathan is really putting out an extra effort to go faster knowing that the Pan Am Family is watching, sponsoring and cheering for him."
Jonathan will take in the best that Mooloolaba (Australia) has to offer, starting with a swim at Mooloolaba’s spectacular surf beach. The ocean swim consists of a one-lap course following a counter-clockwise direction. The bike course will be a challenging one lap route incorporating a flat and fast section on the Sunshine Motorway prior to an undulating lap through the hinterland.
From transition, Jonathan then will head north and onto the iconic Mooloolaba Esplanade. After heading over the scenic Alexandra Headland hill, he will continue to Cotton Tree via Sixth Avenue and Alexandra. Jonathan will follow the same route for the second lap along striking shores and a spectator-lined course before finishing in the heart of Mooloolaba.

2016 Pan Am Family Jonathan's USA triathlon fundraiser
The Pan Am World Wings Foundation (Now, the Pan Am Museum Foundation) has "taken off" and is developing a museum to preserve the proud legacy of our airline. We, the Florida Biscayne Bay Chapter, would like to join the other World Wings Chapters and Pan Am alumni organizations and be part of this exciting historic undertaking by becoming a FOUNDING MEMBER. By giving a Chapter donation of $1,000 or more, we will be recognized and listed as a Founding Member in perpetuity.
In the true Pan Am spirit our son, Jonathan, will be participating in an Ironman Triathlon race in Syracuse, New York, this month on June 19. As a product of a Pan Am family having a Pan Am pilot father and a Pan Am flight attendant mother and aunt, Jonathan grew up traveling the entire world. Nowadays, in addition to being a lawyer for Earth Justice he travels the world participating in Triathlons.
Your pledge to sponsor him for the competition is most appreciated. Your entire donations will go to the Pan Am World Wings Foundation and therefore 100% tax deductible. The suggested amount can be for the entire race - 70.3 total miles ($70.30); or as an individual part of the race at your discretion - 56 miles cycling ($56) or 14.3 miles running and swimming combined ($14.30) OR your own chosen amount.
NOTE: Jonathan financed his own travel and expenses, so every donation was designated to the Museum Foundation.
